in what order do you program your drums?

kick first, snare, then hat.... etc... what's the order you put your drums as far as programming them... you know... track one for kicks... track two for snares...etc....

tracks breakdown like that.

basic 1/8th hats, snare, basic kick pattern, then samples, then redo the kick and maybe the hihats. Last I do bass.

do the kick and snare have to be on their own track.... cuz i find it difficult doing that one at a time.../// its easier for me to lace the kick and snare on the same track... but iam sure the mixing/mastering process afterwards would be less precise...

you can do them on one track then copy the track and erase the snare from the first, the kick from the second.

theres a way that u could record multiple tracks at the same time, you gotta set the "drum" to m (multiple) instead of s (sinlgle) in the main screen. than u open up the "drum" screen and set the tracks there individually (ex: drum track 1, snare track 2 etc..) than on the main screen all u do is make ur music w/o worrying about doing it track by track (never lose that creative thought). basically, u assign the pads that ur gonna use in ur sequence to individual tracks. page 54 in the mpc 2000xl manual explains this betta than me so check it out. 1

multitrackrecording works only with midi modules
with mpc drum programs it will not work. There is no assignment screen for drumpads to drum tracks, but it would be nice option, wouldn´t it

true that. But most people in here use sound modules n shyt or midi keyboards. so instead of "drum" u gotta change the "midi" setting. I was smoking some purple haze when i typed that. But that would've been ILL if u could do that wit any sample kit loaded into ram. cause what happenes wit me is that i tend to lose a thought or two when creating a melody from a sample. like for example i wanna make 4 variations of a basic melody using 4 pads and 4 bars. for each bar i wanna use each pad.
theres 2 ways to do it. the long way or the slow way.
the slow way is relentlessly stopping the sequence after i do each bar, switching the track and so on.
the long way which is what i normally do to prevent from losing the melody in my head or losing momentum is i do it all in track 1, then i copy track 1 into track 2, 3, and 4. than what i do is manually erase the excess tracks. for example: erase pad 2, 3, and 4 from track 1, erase pad 1, 3, 4 from track 2...etc
