Grimy Sampler

I once owned a small Korg Electribe sampler. I don't remember the name. It was green/metal. It was perfect for mangling your sounds and had a certain lofi sound quality. I sold it - it was my first "groovebox". I wish I'd kept it

That's Korg Electribe ES-1. Its a quite under rated sampling drum machine.
I bought it on eBay, kind of by mistake, I did not know the sequence was limited to par beat (808 style) and only 9 pads.
It is really a fun machine I ended up liking it a lot. It is so easy to use, sound a bit lo-hi, in a good way (it is not dirty sounding, although it can be with build-in effects) samples can be assigned for EACH sequences, so that way you can use more than 9 samples by alternating sequences.
I got used to trim (edit) samples on ES-1, you can slow down pitch, and reverse playing sample in sample editing mode, so trimming sample is easier than you think.

that actually sounds pretty damn good... I have the ea of that series and you can do some very nice sounding shit with it. my favourite part about that VA synth is the knobs are midi controllable so I got the midi in/out to/from the 60 and i run a long sequence while pushing buttons and tweaking the dials ... and you got a hit.
