Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey - is there any way we can get this link fixed? OR could somebody e-mail me the pdf? Send me a PM for the address if you can hook me up.

This sounds like it could be potentially useful--it's killing me that I don't have it.

I'm probably just buggin'.

Time to go funk with these tempo & pitch calculators...

so this thread inspired me to start a project. first off this is just a taste. but.......

yes........ you have to have a computer on.....but you don't have to be online and you can print a copy.

My goal is to have all the math tools one could need for a 500 in a single spreadsheet. So if You can think of something let me know.

to the dirt....

1.you have to be able to open a spreadsheet. excel is fine(I saved the file as an xls so excel would open it) but since I am no fanboy of gates or jobs, and I'm an open source advocate- I use http://www.libreoffice.org/
its great, not a thing it cant do so far.

2. for now there 3 entry fields -new tempo, old tempo, sample rate. for the 500 leave the sample rate @44100.

3. I am lit right now so not all formulas can be verified totally.(wait till i'm sober :D )

anyway, this will tell you what to change a samples pitch to, for any tempo ---- AND a map for chopping samples in trim mode(this is where the alcohol can mess me up BUT I'm pretty **** sure I'm correct)

here-----http://www.box.net/shared/e98ghdfi1t
click download.

much more to be added later.......

Kick-ass effort by all these contributors!

I'm curious, along with Tentacles, if there's a way I could get a hardcopy of the timestretching stuff.
Being a prospective 500 owner, this is the stuff that excites me right here. It'd be dank to throw my
(future) loaded 500, headphones, and this in a bag and head to the hills at the lake, a park, or a
friend's place and be able to wreck any sample/chop at any tempo.

Always been a fan of taking super fast breaks (think jungle'ish 145BPM+), choppin', then using the
chops in something that's 85-100BPM. Love the way the ride cymbal comes out between all the drums.
Before you even get to bangin the hats/other shit out, you already got a dope sound! Would hate to
have to lose out on that magic because I chose the 500 over it's "more equiped" bretheren!

PEACE

PS - that calculator link is the tits, but I may not be around the computer as much as I want to make beats!
have to say how much I appreciate that already because I feel bad asking for the PDF!

It works for me but it could be a Google sharing issue so

here is another
http://www.box.net/shared/e98ghdfi1t

edit... somehow in my night i set the default sample rate to 41000 and not 44100, if you downloaded this already, change that. Its fixed in the new dl

soon to add a field to figure out bpm of a sample without tap tempo.

updated(all links to newest version)
added a sample tempo finder..... clean up your sample, count the beats and get the number of samples from trim mode...good to go.

had to make some formula changes but everything is accurate now.

Very nice!

May sound like a weird request but could someone make a quick video of them timestretching stuff inside the 500 and throw it up on YouTube? Nothing headache inducing, don't really care about the quality per-se, just want to see what the flow is like... to a certain extent! I understand if not.

That would be surely nice! The only requirement to the quality is: We need to see the display and values ;) (refer to the videos of rios  )

Thats why I left you! You want things fast. That night I just wanted to kiss you goodnight, I'm sorry you couldn't shit for two weeks.
