I agree but from a forum is titled production techniques I expected a little discussion rather than links to crap quality music on youtube. In fact it is possible it is not all in the music if you listen to these off youtube.

about dilla production mpc3000 records and soul, sometimes he start with drums sometimes with a sample.

because he had a good ear and was skilled he could put together a basic track quick and it would be real sick.

but if u just started making beats a week ago dont think that ur 10 minute beats is gonna be up to par, u have to up to a certain level first.

but its all about ur ear and ur taste and making music that has movement and some bounce.

Believe it or not, I' never heard of dude until he was already passed.

Bagged a couple albums two years ago off the back of all the forum worship.

Simple but effective, purposely loose and raw sounding but at the same time, smooth...

A lot of it sounded wrong, compared to the (commercial) hip-hop my ear was used to then.

But like the saying goes, if it sounds good, it is good.

also if ur doing that neo soul sound u can chop the trails of notes to get some somewhat ambient vibey sounds
