multi track recording on mpc2500

hey guys

Right, im now wanting to multi track record my beats on the mpc to my DAW. basically i know how to send my programs/tracks to the 8 assignable mix out. sorted

i want to know what software and interface will achieve the folllowing,

in essence, i want to hit play on the mpc2500 and then click record on the software. then i want the software to automatically record the 8 assignable tracks/programs into 8 separte tracks in my DAW.

im i right in saying that any Firewire interface with 8 trs inputs will work fine? just puzzles me abit to think you can get 8 separte tracks simultaneously down the one firewire cable???

I want to avoid any issues with software - interface compatibilty. I was looking into the MR816 but seems i might be limited to Cubase. the a problem or no?

Also if it helps, the DAW is gunna be just for mutlitrack recording and finishing off tracks (i.e effects, automation etc)

so please any info would be great, and even better software/interface

That only has 4 analogue inputs though.

^ probably the cheapest, easiest and most robust option you have

I could break it down for you...but check this youtube out...this should give you a good foundation for multi tracking. Best one I've seen thus far.

Just do some research on the current best bang-for-buck (sounding-wise) soundcards with 8 analogue in's.

heard theres some issues with windows so will be investing in a imac aswell.

I got a saffire pro 40 and returned it for this motu 828 mk3 a couple weeks ago. I love it, but I won't be able to use the firewire until I get a new computer with a texas instruments firewire card because it only works about once in a blue moon, and when it does it causes all kinds of hell (luckily I got the hybrid USB/Firewire). I was going to get an iMac as well, but figured I could get a friend to build a way better system for the same amount of money. (Just sold my 5k as well, about to get a 2500+jjos)

Wouldn't buying an RME Fireface 800 and sticking with your PC be a more cost effective solution than buying a Mac with an 828 mk3?
The Fireface is meant to sound a bit better too (well, it does cost a few hundred pounds more), until you do the Black Lion mods ->> http://www.blacklionaudio.com/content.php?p=10.
I've owned a Fireface 800 for 4 years and can vouch for it's stability and awesomeness.
