good evening. this is my first post here so dont hate me for the question.
ive just upgraded a few minutes ago from free jj to os xl, and im waiting for my password now ;)

i just loaded some of my beats and now the beats where i used the 16 levels in the free jj os sounds different from what they should sound. my bassline doesnt have different notes, they now have all the same sound.
do you understand what i mean? its like xl doesnt recognize my 16 levels that i did before upgrading.

is there a solution or does somebody else got this problem too?

im sorry for my english, im just a poor german boy :P

EDIT:
after another research for a while i found this:
"Note
The data of 16 LEVELS of AKAI OS, OS1, and OS2 is not reflected.
Moreover, 16 levels made with XL do not work in AKAI OS, OS1, and OS2"

hmmm.... anybody got an idea how i "convert" my 16 levels for the XL os? :)

You could load back up the old os where the 16 levels was working, solo the track u need and just resample that track. Then save it as a sample. Load up jjos2xl and use the newly re-sampled bass track in a program or audio track. I have a 1000 but i think the "resampling" feature is the same in both machines.

yeah now i have to reload the os several times but its better than making all this great beats again.

On the rare occasion that I want to work on a beat done in an older version OS, I just go back to that version. I haven't yet bothered with translating an older beat to a new OS. I don't really see a reason to, but that's partly due to the way I work. I tend to finish beats off in my DAW.

but every time i switch OS there's a chance to destroy the mpc. i don't know the right word but im sure you'll know what i mean, i mean when you've got no ACpower. breakdown bla^^

the reason i don't want to switch the OS every time is just the cool mixdown feature in songmode on the JJOSXL version ;)

You mean if while switching/loading another OS and the power goes out, the MPC will be irreparable damaged?

Scheiße!

Did this happen to anyone here?
Makes me think of getting a UPC.

I would think that it's not the whole mpc that goes kaputt, but maybe just the bios or a single chip....

i think that the chip has an unknown ID. its similiar to the xbox 360 drives, no power while flashing, the chip is marked as unknown.

is anyone here in the board with problems like this?

well if the chip is soldered into the PCB then there is a problem, otherwise it could be replaced, that is of course if the chip is sold separately.
