How you make beat?

14 bars does seem odd far as i know from working with mc's they tend to write 16's or 24's

14 is gonna feel like it got cut short but to each they own ive heard some ill green tracks and they was dope

but yeah for the most part u can make shit as long or short as u like but making shit too long can make it boring sometimes u can hit em quick with a 2 minute beat and the shit is fire.

but an in the pocket loop normally shits on howevermany changes, progressions and bridges u put in a track

no man I don't think it would sound right.. when 16 ends it feels like there has to come something else.. after 14 lines or so .. wtf.. its just weird.. no offense by the way:)

I like to keep my work unpredictable and unorthodox. On paper it looks weird, but if you count the bars to one of my tracks and count the bars of another track using the traditional formula, you'll see they both add up to the same number. Its the feel I want and makes the ride for the listener exciting. But I can't take the credit for the formula, I used to listen and study DJ Premier's early beats and learned from his skills. Check out Take It Personal, the verses are 12 bars for v.1, 14 bars for v.2 and 16 bars for v.3
