The looper is. Better than I ever imagined.

I was thinking of getting a Boss RC-50 for live looping. Now I don't think I'll need one. This is so good, it's better than se... oh no it is not. But it is really really good.

Thank you JJ, you are truly amazing. Now excuse me for a while, I'm about to go loopy now.

... by the way, you can still play the pads if you loaded a program before you started looping.

This is excellent ...great to hear positive things about the looper.
my only frustration is i have to move house today/tommorrow and then im going away for a few days! i really want to try this out.

A couple of questions for those that have been playing with it

1.can the footswitch setup be different on the looper screen and revert back to other settings on the main screen?

2.and can you flick between the main screen and looper screen with the loop running , change tracks and do normal recording etc?

thank you kindly gentlemen!

It seems the footswitch setup in the looper mode and in the other mode are linked.

I've just tried it and I think some things could be improved ( I don't own a guitar looper so forgive me if it doesn't make sense compared to usual features)

I think the relationship between SEQ ON and the looper mode could be better. It would be great to be able to use the < > bar button to have an influence and the background sequence. It could be dope if there was a relationship between RecBars in Looper mode and the bars set on the right corner of the main screen (in the limit of 16 bars)

( by the way I did my test with a rendered song of 100 bars)

It's difficult to go from main screen and the looper mode without having the sound cut.
Even if you have SEQ ON set, going from the main screen to the looper mode and you will lose the running sound. When going from looper mode to main screen the sound cuts a little bit. When you keep your looper mode performance the sound become a bit weird.

I couldn't achieve a smooth transition ( I was trying to record a random performance, to keep it, to assign it to a pad and to replay it quickly with the new loop&hold function in main screen)

Otherwise I'd like the flashing overdub led to be in sync with the tempo or the click

Well that was my first impression . I didn't find the F1 or F5 shortcut for the new functions. I hope the good version was uploaded.

Gotta go to bed and check twice tomorrow
Peace

1. Footswitch settings seem to be global.

2. No. But if you set Seq:ON, it's possible to change tracks and play the pads while overdubbing - the pad performance gets overdubbed, too.

Otherwise it's dope as a stand-alone feature. We can easily have fun freestyling.

Concerning the loop&hold feature I have noticed when you go to the trim mode and press the Pgmmode fkey the looping&holding sample doesn't update when you move the end point.

Yes, that's how it works. You have a sequence running, and everything you play - be it pads, guitar or tuba - you can sample & overdub.

You can enter and exit overdub mode while the sequence is playing by pressing Overdub.
You can also enter and exit loop play mode while the sequence is playing by pressing Play.
And, you can start and stop the sequence play while loop playing or overdubbing by pressing Play start.

That what is does with the SEQ ON button no?

You can play your sequence with PLAY START then press OVERDUB. The drawback is that it's not easy to manage the sequence location (it plays from the start and no < > bar button.

Still spending much time with that exicting feature.

Sorry to quote myself but I was wrong.

In fact, There is a relationship between the loop setting in main screen and the looper mode. It will play like the STOP+PLAY START key combination.

this looper feature is a no-go for me unless JJ can get the sound from stopping/cutting out when you switch to the looper screen and back. no way you can use this live unless you stay on the looper screen the whole time.

also, having to stop and assign the new recording to a pad kills the flow. you should be able to just keep the loop running in the background as you switch to different screens without having to have a pad event associated with it.

Great idea with this feature but I don't think it's quite there yet. I am not able to get a loop to sound smooth when overdubbing pads or other sustaining sounds. There is always a little bump or hiccup at the loop point. Anybody else experiencing this problem?

I second your thought that you should be able to drop in and out of the looper screen smoothly for live performance. Just not quite there yet, potentially killer feature tho...
