Hi everyone 
Just recently purchased a black MPC 1000 secondhand. Was told it is in great condition except for the "undo seq" button. So far so good. Having sat down with it and figured some stuff on my own I'm pretty excited about the potential. I've trolled the forums looking for answers to pad issues and have tried almost all except OS updates which are to come soon. Was wondering about opinions on replacing pads AND OS update.
Basically, I get the "motorbike effect" when tapping. Tapping with quick, moderate force once yields a 'half effect' where part of the sample is played or played softly. When pressed hard, the entire sample plays BUT once I release, there is a click sound. Not a repeat of the sample, but a click. I notice the 'motorbike effect' more so when I hit the pads just off center, closer to their edge. I'm going to update OS in the next couple days hoping this will solve it. Changing velocity, pad sensitivity, and all the other settings has done NOTHING! Very frustrating.
Which is the better fix? Cheaper fix? First I should try?

Specific settings?
Anyways, recommendations are welcomed
Also, any customization suggestions I'm looking at getting new pads, wood border, new lcd.....etc. This might turn into an obsession.
