I remember seeing some Korg Nano series controllers in the vids... nanoKONTROL might be the one. USB only...

That's correct. My brother has one for his DAW. It's a cool little controller. But it only has a USB MIDI output, and not a standard 5 pin DIN. So to use it with an MPC requires running through a DAW to an MPC with a MIDI interface.

I'd personally recommend a MIDI controller that has both USB and MIDI IN and OUT jacks, like the Axiom 49 or similar. I can assign a good number of sliders, knobs, buttons, pads, and keys to whichever MIDI CCs I'd like use on the MPC1000.
I've owned the Axiom 49 since 2006 and I've seen all sorts of controllers come out since then, tempting me to sell it. But I love how easy it is to work with, especially with the MPC1000 and Reason.

Cool, I'm watching the video right now. I've seen alot of things being done with the Arduino since a few years ago, and I've been very impressed what it's done for quite a few MIDI conversions. Thanks for sharing! 8)

i have the week off from work and i am playing with the button feature right now...working on my live set, and i'll be playing a backing project in DAW that will send messages to my MPC telling it to switch pad banks/programs etc for the different songs. this way it will do it automatically as my songs switch, so i won't have to worry about makign sure i'm on the right pgm. all i'll have to do is bash the pads.

Hey NYM how do you feel about the latest update not saving your settings?Or am I missing something?
2.15 would save the button feature settings power on/off.

P.S. Float is a masterpiece.

not good. i just discovered that. i also discovered a bug in BUTTON but i have not reproduced it yet. garbled text and somehow being able to scroll to note 255 (wat). i hopefully will track this one down and report to JJ.

glad you like Float. i'm starting small with live shows - small as in my house+youtube at first, then coffee shops and bars, and then up from there...the performance is MPC and midi controller based, and i've got to do some more work programming the midi controller but it'll get done.

Noticed the same bug in MPC2500 XL 2.18. I've only been able to reproduce it with a midi controller (Axiom 25) connected. Does not happen every time, though:

1. Connect a midi controller.
2. Go to MIDI/SYNC.
3. Press BUTTON.
4. Choose Input: ON.
- screen is full of garbled text.

Bug Fixes: MPC2500 OS-XL Ver2.20 28-APR-2011

1. [MIDI/SYNC]

A setup of BUTTON is not memorized.

i love these people
let's hope the garbled text bug was squashed too. off to configure!!! maybe we should make a sticky of useful BUTTON mode configs and ideas.

People who have buttons that don't work well, just get a tube of de-oxit and apply to each of them (You have to take the lid off to do it though). About 1/3 of my buttons didn't work very well when I got my 1000 and de-oxit restored them to new. I use it all the time these days for pots, sliders and audio inputs, it's great stuff.

You know I started this thread because of the fear of my buttons dying.I can control my 1000 with a controller now.My latest eye opener is to always explore JJ.The button feature is far beyond just remote
control.I feel JJ has really delved deep into midi
