Help! :)

hey i cannot save beats on 2000xl my zip drive is broken..

im thinkin' i should get the 1000..or?????

what are can i do??

and im not going to google it..i am asking U..

ps.made some nice beats today but they are erased ..need to start saving asap..thanks everyone

Firstly my commisserations for your loss - we've all been there many times.. As for what to go for, it really depends on your budget and what you're trying to achieve with your studio setup in general. I started out on the 2000XL and had an external SCSI hard drive, rather than a ZIP which served me really well when an MPC was the entire control centre for my studio.

Now I have an MPC500 which is great value, is also battery powered (with a good battery life) and uses CF cards so fantastic for portability/backing up etc. This works for me because I use Ableton Live as my primary DAW and the MPC for jamming/composition, on the go beat making and gigging.

The 1000 is much more extensive than the 500 - more I/O, more pads and (I imagine) more onboard wave editing/effects/sampling capabilities. It's much more suitable for a classic studio environment, though I don't have one myself so am purely gassing. The MPC2000XL is awesome though and I do miss it greatly sometimes, so just because your ZIP drive broke doesn't mean you should toss it out.

That's the main reason I don't use my MPC 3000 that much anymore. I'm on my 5th zip disc drive.

Check out JD, formerly known for SCSI for Samplers. He's got cf card readers that replace the floppy & zip drives.
