been putting together my live set. painstaking work. there are a million different options, but i think i've come up with a good medium between control and presentation.
but the point of this thread is the M-Audio Quattro.

4 io at 16 bit 44100. there are other settings for higher bitrates/depths but i am not using them.
i bought this thing used off ebay for $49 back in 2008...mostly for use with an older laptop at work (for use with a mixer/mic + reaper and vstis for teaching kids about sound). i wasn't particularly impressed with it at the time. a couple years later, i bring it out of retirement for use with my asus ul20a laptop + reaper and my album for live use...i'm running my MPC and a mic into the quattro. for outputs, i've got main outs on 1/2 and 3/4 runs to my headphones.
so that's 3 inputs and 4 outputs being used...plus midi in/out for my mpc...and this rig responds with beautifully low latency. it helps that the laptop is fast and REAPER is optimized beyond belief.
the only downside of the quattro is that it runs hot to the touch...the sound is great, no complaints here on that. then again i usually think that people who fuss about their gear's sound should spend more time worrying about the quality of their beats instead.
look for these on CL and ebay, if you see one for cheap scoop it up. it's really handy to have a portable rig even if you don't use live shows (think public library, sampling treasure trove).
i like the m-audio sound cards. the delta 66 (i have 2) have been the single most reliable pieces of gear i've owned - just make sure you get the older drivers instead of the lame new Avid ones.
