Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I was wondering if you can connect a midi keyboard and software to the MPC 500.
I want to be able to play sounds from some sort of sofware on a midi keyboard but use the mpc for sequencing and drums, is this possible?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it can, I'll say 80% of the cats in here do that.

Search out in the Getting Started forum, there's plenty advice there or check here http://tweakheadz.com to help with your set up.

As for your question as a whole, nobody can really help you if we don't know the software you're using, type of keyboard, and audio interface.

I'll rephrase the whole question-

Basically I want to be able to get the sounds from Reason or something (synths, pianos) to my midi keyboard controller, then hook up my MPC to the Midi keyboard controller so that i can use the mpc for sequencing, drums samples etc.

Kinda like this:
Reason----->Midi keyboard controller------>Mpc500

Is this possible?

Without spoonfeeding you, the physical connections go like this.

Midi keyboard > MPC500 > Midi interface/ Soundcard > Reason

All the information you need to set this up has been posted here a thousand times, so shouldn't be hard to find.

Otherwise cop this... viewtopic.php?f=26&t=142074

I suggest you do some research on MIDI, otherwise you'll never quite grasp the concept.
