people always talkin bad bout the 500' .. forreal why man, I never had another myself, did try some of them and I must say they work aightt but I can do the things I want in the 500, and if the sound sounds too dry or plastic or whatsoever I just filter the hell out off it.. so what really is the deal?

They have a purpose. I own two of them along with a 5000. I constantly have one in my bag because they're great fun outside of the studio/home. And when inspiration hits, it's nice to just have the thing ready to make a beat.

But.... they have a severely limited outputs, pad sensitivity is shit and the display just isn't suited for working long hours on one imo. I understand why guys who only work in a studio would dismiss them as a serious tool.

Anyone who says you can't make just as good of beat with one as you can any other model, doesn't know what they are talking about though.

No seriously, of course the 500 has a hp filter, just like it has lp and bp... the vca envelope with attack and decay is pretty rudimentary though.
