HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,

I am new here, I mean, never touched Midi or anything B4, just bought a new Akai LPD8. I have my desktop running windows 7 and Macbook laptop need the LPD8 to play drum so I thought just plug in N play, but it doesn't make any sound, I know it might sound stupid to you guys but I dont have any idea how to use it.
do I need to use a recording software to make the sound or is that the computer settings???

You bought a controller. It's like a keyboard except it has pads instead of keys. It doesn't make sound on it's own. All it does is send control messages to something else. That something else generates or triggers the sound. I use Ableton Live to generate and sequence audio. Others use Fruity Loops, or Reason, or Logic Studio or even Garage Band. Figure out which one of those software packages you want to use with your controller and then get back to us. Better yet, figure out which of those software packages to use and then go check the forums of those companies. They often have explicit instructions for using a specific controller with the software.

So you went out and bought something yet you had no idea what it did?


It doesn not make any audio its a controller as stated above. You will need software.

FYI, you really should do research beforehand or every purchase you make is going to be just like this.
