mfc 42

I picked one up recently and have used it with the 4k. The low end on them isn't as clear as I would like, too fuzzy, but they have interesting characteristics. I paid £100 for mine, so maybe the one on ebay is overpriced, I am not sure, I know they are fairly scarce on the ground.

Has anyone else been using one of these with the 4k? I was using a mutronics mutator up until recently, which is a very nice filter.

dope wish i could cop it. I have a electrix filter factory. i got it because i couldnt find one of these. would like to compare them though. electrix filter factory is dope to sample thru. I've run digital analog modeling synths thru it. love it. sampled drums from a record thru it and a compressor. BANGin. holla if u ever wanna get rid of ur mfc.

I have the MFC42, the Filter factory and the filter queen. Most times I prefer the MFC over the other two (steeper filter cut off for one) but £250 for the MFC is a lot of money. I hope whoever won it gets plenty use out of it.

I wouldn't sell mine for a penny under £300, but I would sell it as it doesn't get so much use anymore. I'm still happy to keep it though.

Bought one off eBay - was in mint condition with manual. Don't use it that much anymore - generally I sample on the ASR-10 and the filters on that are good enough for me.
But when using it with my mpc 3000, it is the business.

Yeah, £250 is maybe more than you want to be paying for one of these. The sound quality isn't bad but its still a bit 'cheap and cheerful' overall. The fuzzy bottom end is my only b"*ch with this device other than the useless distortion that has no send control!

I've seen these go for at least £ 250. They're not as common as you'd think, also, the alternatives aren't particularly cheap.
Have had one of these for a few years - works well with my 3000. Pretty happy with the quality and the sound. Tried the mutator, not that great.

For the price you can't argue, good build quality and good overall sound. Useful for a range of mod effects.

I'd have to disagree here, the mutator is very nice sounding, it has a real subtlety to it that you don't get with other filters. That said, £1000 is a ridiculous price to pay for a 'secret weapon' filter. It simply isn't worth the money. There is no special button on any piece of kit that makes everything sound great, you got to use your ears!
