Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Ok its late and I am impatient, just need a quick question answered please. Can I record live from the MPC500 via USB into a laptop? If so, what program is good?

I can feel the angry "read the manual" response already :P

peace.

Quick answer to your question is no. You record live performances via the OUTPUTs on your MPC.
A quick look through the manual will enable you to be familiar with the basics.
Take some time to look through this site to see how others are getting round the same issue you have.
The mpc 500 is a nice machine but to record performances you'll need some sort of soundcard. I used PRO Tools with an audio interface. Might not be the best solution for you - but worked for me. Others no doubt had a better setup, go and find out. Good luck.

You supposed to say yes it can be done Zipper. :D

Plug your MPC into an audio interface and use any program designed to record it. There are a bunch of free downloads on google, choose your poison. If you don't have an interface, the Mic input will do but you'll need to make adjustments after such as EQ.

heh - well on its own - then no - but with an audio interface - yes.
He was supposed to find that out with the search ;)
