Save a program with only the samlpes used/notes played?

is there a way to save a program with only the samples that you have used in a sequence. i.e. say I load 30 samples but I only use 5 of them in a sequence, can I save a program with only the 5 samples? (OS2XL 2.18)

no, but this is something i would appreciate a lot. similar to the purge function, but instead erasing all samples not used in any programs it will erase all samples not used in any sequence!

You have to manually delete the samples you don't use.

But, you don't have to delete them one at a time. There's a shortcut:

thanks for the hint. I've tried this method, but it's cumbersome, you can't select samples non-sequentially, like CTRL+ Mouse Click on a PC.

I did it a different way: in PROGRAM Mode hold SHIFT button, hit the pad with the sample you don't want, turn data wheel to the left till the sample field is empty. Because you holding the SHIFT button you don't need to turn the data wheel much. I think this is a faster way.

Now I've got the next problem I've mentioned in another topic, namely when I try to open programs I made in the last 2 days the MPC gives me an "Wrong File !!" message.

That will only remove them from the program. If you only save the program it should be ok. If you wanna SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY it will still be there.

That shortcut is very useful and was added to make the audiotracks workflow easier.
It works like an individual PURGE function when you've just recorded something.

It's another story when you want to delete/ purge something that was previously saved. It will depend on the SAVE method you're using in the MPC.

I've asked the guy who runs the JJOS channel on youtube if it is possible to purge the samples not used in any sequence, here is the answer:

The PUGE function deletes the sample not used by all programs.
All the programs = the sample which is not used by sequences is deleted.

Yeah his answer is not clear.

I think that means if you don't put a sample in a program you won't use it in a sequence.
So the purge function works based on that fact.

The MPC won't search for you which samples are not used in a SEQ, delete them and update the pgm files automatically. (except if you request it )
