get what fixed? is there an alternative such as an external cd drive? I tried searching all over the forums but most threads were about external dvd drives. I guess I could open up the machine but im not very "under-the-hood" savy.

Yes, open the machine and make sure all the cables to the CD-ROM are connected.

YOU DO KNOW THAT YOU SAMPLE FROM THE INTERNAL CD-ROM BOTH IN DIGITAL AND ANALOG TOO???

Try looking in the 1.60 or 1.61 OS update addendum!!!

(kicks door on way out)

DAMMIT!

Keep turning the knob, the record type should keep changing.

Plus, you dont have to buy a manual you silly goose. Save the PDF and take it to an office store like Office Depot, Kinko's and have them print and bind it for you. The manual is super-thick but for about 25 bucks, it is more than worth it.

Dude, Curtis Mayfield would roll over in his grave in shame if he knew his image was associated with idiocy.

At this point, it would help you to get your hands on the manual so you can save yourself & everybody elses time from spoon feeding basic info.

Now on the other hand, highend digital equipment might not be for everybody. And it will show especially if you ignore the suggestions to easily download the pdf version of the manual and dig into it at your leisure. It's free and there's no excuse for not having it.

For those that know the possibility of this thread turning into a 50+ page of "how do I do this or that", we can only sit and wait on the sidelines and say "we told you so".
