Hi all, does the Arpeggiator in 2XL have a random mode, and can it be latched? I would like to use it to scramble my drum and base rythms and think it could be cool.

When i get my hands on a used blue/red mpc-1000 i wil slam this os on it in a minute ;-)
(And the ordering the pad upgrade)

Cheers.

is the arp still really basic? no up/down, random or latch functions?

thanks.

Yes. Last time I checked (ver. 2.18, maybe). Just up, nothing else. Maybe JJ might do something about it, if there was more interest...

its really just a glorified note-repeat function

I'm actually really happy with the arp, I know it could be improved on but I find it a cool way to work out ideas for bass lines by holding random pads, then when I've hit the spot I'll turn it off and enter the bass using a drum track.

As basic as the arp is I still find it useful when setting a midi in and controlling my keyboard cutoff and release.Record mess with Record some more.Just wish it had more options.

Set track to arp.Turn program to off.Set midi to channel 1.Play a pattern on your keyboard(16th notes are cool)record and overdub cutoff and release and even some modulation for a interesting arp effect.

The arp is a great idea but it REALLY needs improvement!
Its such a great tool to have in a sampler and using it with drum pgm's we could create evolving hi hat patterns, complete rhythmic craziness, and even flipping chopped up samples would be amazing! We all know how usefull an arp is in a synth so using it with inst pgm's would really open up the whole idea behind having inst pgm's.
To have the arp brought up to a standard specs we need at least UP, DOWN, UP/DOWN, RANDOM.
It would be amazing to also have an ASSIGN MODE, and UP, DOWN, UP/DOWN, RANDOM with 2 and 3 OCT mode.
This would make using the arp a breeze and it would become a much more creative tool instead of a forgoten/under used function.
We should really petition to get this expanded!!!!!
should we create a poll to get JJ to look into it?
Peace!
