My mastering rack will show you i don't follow any fukin standards dude. My rack alone is worth more than your whole setup-bank on that. If I followed standards I'd sound like everybody else-like you do maybe?. If you don't know how to properly treat audio files given to you and think importing a few audio files is extra work, then I don't know how you actually get any jobs. As for worrying about what's what, I just ask them to name the files before giving them to me. It's not really all that difficult :lol:. And yes, I have used Pro Tools extensively when I went to school way-back-when. Even my instructor (a professional ae who's worked with Sarah McLachlan, Neko Case, Blue Rodeo-just to name a few) agreed he only taught it, because it was part of his job at the time. I don't use Pro Tools, because it isn't capable enough. I don't need it and I'm still able to make nice money. You wouldn't have a clue how to utilize the gear I have.
Keep thinking those plugins give you the real SSL sound.

You can laugh, and have your mpc forum groupies think what they want, but I think you know I ain't fukin around and it just eats at you doesn't it? Fess, doesn't matter how much "worth" you have in gear bro! There are tons of dudes that come here everyday with the "dream setup", but you hear their music and it is terrible and poorly mixed. None of that shit means anything. Just sounds like bragging that hasn't been backed up.

Anyway, point is this, if you're just doing shit for your personal self, then any daw or production program is fine. But if you work with clients, it definitely helps to have pro tools. It's true that reaper is more powerful and is 64 bit blah blah blah, and that all daws sound the same (disregarding the hardware path), but the layout of pro tools is unmatched. All other programs have cluttered looking screens with shit everywhere. But in the end, if you learn it, you can do the same shit in any of them.
