Hi people. Just delving into the inner sanctum of my mpc 3000 LE at the moment, I have a few jobs to do over the next couple of days, I am just about to upgrade the ram, install a new back light, and install a cf reader. (and also give it a bloody good clean).

However when I opened it up, I noticed there is another board in there which I haven't seen on any of the video tutorials of guys opening their case up. It was sat just above the floppy with the lid almost shut, and now the lid is open I have propped it up ontop of the orange colored board. It is not screwed in, just connected up, floating about. Any ideas what it is??

Any help would be great.

sweet. thanks for that. Is it normal that it is unsecured? Bit annoying having it floating around the mpc thats all. If not ill have to source a couple spare screws and refix it.

Definitely. I suppose alot of the parts for the older mpcs now are kinda scarce.

This also probably explains what I heard rattling about slightly when the mpc was moved

At first thought something had broke.

Ok so I have just changed the backlight aswell. Went pretty smoothly. Bought a replacement one from the dude off ebay.
Kinda time consuming, but fairly straight forward. Can't test it yet but hopefully all is well.

nice find.

these older machines have some smuggling capabilities.

i found 2 memory expansions wedged in the corner inside an s950 i bought before... :D they were wedged in there so good there was no rattling around when the unit was moved or anything! :o

too bad i had already bought 2 extra expansion boards by the time i opened her up and found the ones hidden inside....

When I unexpectedly found the memory expansion in my MPC60II, that was cool.

Dude didn't advertise it but it was still a fair price.

Flux capacitor

Yeh the guy who I bought it off was on ebay. I asked him at the time had the ram been upgraded and he said no, I was kind of expecting it to be dead standard. Saying that though it certainly doesnt look like it's been opened in some years due to all of the dirt and dust that was inside the case.

That little beauty must of been put in there a few years ago.

Just about to screw the case back down and power it up in a minute. Just kind of crossing my fingers everything runs smoothly :)
