hi!

I've just ordered my mpc 2500 se; reading in the forum, I think that my mpc will have already inside the slot in which I can mount the hard drive, is it correct? only for mpc 1000 you have to buy the hdm 10, right?

ok, my question is: before mount the hard drive in the mpc, will I have to format it first? how I can do that??

and is there anywhere a list of hard drives that surely work with mpc 2500?

thanks everybody! :D

It sounds like a short on the PCB, CPU Assembly.

mpcmatic: what the hell are you talking about in that reply, son?

anyways... to answer the actual question here... yes the mpc2500 comes ready for HD installation from the factory... you will not have to purchase the HDM10 separately... and not only can you format the HD from within the MPC, but you actually have to in order for it to function properly with the MPC's operating system... so yeah, just go ahead and format it AFTER installing it in your 2500se...

thanks crossings, ok, so I'll wait for my mpc to arrive, and than I'll buy an hard drive! :P

do you know how to format it after I've installed it in the mpc? I mean, what kind of operations I have to do? is there a "format hard drive" function or something like that?

and what about the dimension of the hard drive? I've heard not bigger than 80 gb, is it correct?

thanks for reply!!

ok, i´ll be easy on you, because this steps are not mentioned explicit in the manual (but the format procedure for the compact flash card is, and the steps are virtually the same).

the first thing you need to know is that the interface of the mpc can be connected to one thing at a time only. that means if you call up the save/load pages there will be either the cf-card, the harddisk the cd-drive or the internal memory chosen a the top of the page.

now if you call the utility page you will see the format option for the device that is chosen. devices that are not installed will not show up! if you installed your harddrive according to the illustrations in the manual it will now spin and show up in the save/load/utility pages.

if you plan on using a hdd bigger than 80gb it is recommended to update to the latest official os from akai, version 1.24, because there are some fixes for harddisk problems included.

yes, I've seen that in the manual there are the steps to format the compact flash, but I thinked that steps for the hard drive were different... instead, are the same!!

very clear, thank you very very much!
