Did you try the "hold erase + power on" method?

Goes like this:
When you change OS, please switch on a power supply, pressing the ERASE button first.
Please press the ERASE button until a main screen is displayed.
If this operation is not performed, MPC may freeze or it may crash.

This priceless piece of advice can be found at the bottom of the JJ main page.

Well I didn't do that, and when I try to do the erase start up thing now it does nothing. Am I screwed?

I don't think you're screwed.

Put the os at the root of your CF card and try to reinstall it by pressing the WINDOW button at start-up.

If you don't see anything on the LCD try to adjust the contrast (SHIFT or STOP + DATA WHEEL (depending on the os)).

Hope you'll find a solution.

Now, calm down. What do you mean exactly by "it does nothing"?

If the screen is blank, try to adjust the contrast, as le rat said. You have OS2XL, yes? Try holding STOP + spinning the DATA WHEEL.
