Honestly I think it is all a matter of personal taste. Use what you feel comfortable with and use what will be most useful to you.

Reason+Record for me....done deal. Probably would be the best choice for you with the Mpc 500 seeing it doesn't have Midi out. Work flow in Reason/Record is INSANE....I actually sold my Mpc because it solves all my production needs. Just my 2 cents. :D

alot of these programs are quite similar, i would say it doesnt matter too much which one you choose cause eventually u'll get used to it, but if i had to choose i say fl studio just cause i got xxl 9 fullversion off the internet 4 free, thats the best bang for ur buck

Nah....DAW wise I've been using Sonar for the past couple of years.

Now that im thinking about it I actually did use the lite version to stretch some vocals and I do still have the lite version but I dont use it.
