i have a 5000 and i was doing the 2.0 upgrade i don't know if i didn't uncompress it right but i did everything and when i press 2 and 3 then power it on at the top it says

invalid filesystem in cf card

Format the CF card from the MPC 5000,
mount the MPC to your computer via USB
and copy the MPC5000_OS.bin (that's the uncompressed binary file) to the mounted CF card from the location on your computer.

That should work.. or something is wrong with your CF card.

on the instructions they said that mpc 5000 os was a compressed file and i have to uncompress it with a utility called stuffit

Does the file look like that? And like I said before, format the CF card in the MPC 5000.

It's all there, you just need to read the information and follow the instructions. Do a Google search for Stuffit, if you don't already have it installed on your Mac. Install it, uncompress the file.. this ain't rocket science.
