Hello,

Is it possible with the MPC (with OSJJ 2XL)

to increase the velocity of incoming MIDI messages (coming from MIDI keyboard)
and to output these MIDI notes to MPC MIDI OUT (to a MIDI expander)

in realtime ?

Thanks

jap, should be possible:

1. in Midi/sync-Settings set "Soft through" to "as track"
2. in main screen set Midi-Output (low right corner of the screen) to the Chanel and Output you want to connect your expander
3. set Vel% to something higher than 100% to increase the velocity
OR if you want the velocity level of all notes to be the same hold the FULL LEVEL Button and select a velocity level you want to use.

that should do the trick....

Well, it might be useful but... no, it doesn't work that way. Only the FULL LEVEL method works, but there is no velocity scaling. This is what the manual says about the Vel% field:

"Allows you to adjust the Velocity ratio on the selected Track while the sequence is playing.
Adjust the Velocity ratio by turning the DATA wheel from 1% to 200%.
Changing the "Vel%" has no effect while recording sequence data, it will only effect the playback of a sequence.
If the velocity is set to 127 (maximum), any setting over 100% will have no effect."

So playback only.

The reason is because I have a MIDI keyboard that is rather "hard" to play.
I would like to change the velocity curve (not possible on the MIDI keyboard, nor on the expander), that's why I thought the MPC could do this in realtime :

---MIDI keyboard ---> MPC MIDI IN ---> MPC increases the velocity ---> MPC MIDI OUT -----> expander

I haven't tried DrNibbert's solution yet, do you think it will work ?

Thanks

No, it won't work. The MPC can't do realtime midi velocity conversion. The Vel% value only affects midi notes recorded in a sequence.

if you have a DAW you're using you can use a freeware VST or jesusonic effect to do this quite easily.
what's your setup like?

more importantly, do you know what a midi is? sometimes, can you hear da midi??

Reminds me of the good ol' days when I first started making beats, and Mom would come yelling "Hey lower that ****' MIDI!!! You tryin' to make us all go deaf?!?!?!"
