 Work with me on this idea:

How about combining the patterns from "Line Pattern Edit"-Mode with the Arpegiator???? (like the MC-505 can do)

this way you cold create very unique pattern and apregios!

For example you can have the normal arpeggiator-settings up/down/chord/random and a setting for Range wich determines how many oktaves are played ----- but now combine this with the different velocity levels for each step, which is set in the line patterns.

what do you think?i think that would be awesome!

this is a genius idea!

not only would you have the different velocity values but all the different timings that you have saved in your line patterns, where it could play a note a little bit early or late or even skip a note depending on whatever is in all your line patterns that you have saved. you can have 99 different line patterns saved (and they don't have to be loaded up manually since they are already loaded by default when you turn on the MPC) so this would give you quick access to lots of different arp patterns that are just sitting there already in memory.

definitely request this from JJ for sure!

How do you do bug reports/requests?

+1 - in fact the arpeggiator was one of the main reasons i upgraded to 2XL! i'd love to see more modes added.

before requests are made you should come to a consensus or at least agree on a short, simply written, easily communicated feature request.

if your goals are sympathetic to the programmer's efforts (low hanging fruit) then your request is more likely to be added.

^^^^ Thanks,I think I found a bug with copying bars in a sequence.(not to hijack the thread).I have a request too,but it seems like I'm the only one that wants a midi track mixer.I guess I'll start a thread about it.

I would also love an improved arpeggiator!

As i do think all these ideas are great, we do need to keep focus on the original idea.
To just improve the arp so it becomes a useful feature. we really only need it to have features found on any standard synth.
So lets get together and create something simple we can email to JJ.
First things first, we really need to agree on what improvements are needed.
I still think the following are most important:
To have UP, DOWN, UP/DOWN, RANDOM.
And if possible an ASSIGN MODE, and UP, DOWN, UP/DOWN, RANDOM with 2 and 3 OCT mode.

What do we think?

yep, i agree with it, and for now i'd leave it at that.

There can be two updown modes. One where the first and last note repeat and one where they don't.

So. A b c b a b c b a

And

A b c c b a a b c c b a

Both are useful.

Also, an as played order would be useful. The notes arpeggiate in the order you pressed the keys.

what do you mean by an assign mode?

when i refer to an assign mode, im talking about assigning notes in he order of played.
eg. if i hold 3 notes C E G then the arp will play this sequentially, C E G, C E G, C E G,
but in assign mode i could play the same notes but it would play in the order i held each note, like E C G, E C G, E C G, and if i add another note it would just put it at the end, once i reach my note limit, the first note is dropped and the newest note is added to the end. This mode is found on most synth with decent arps.
I say wen need it, as you could hit pads and create beats instantly!

+ what elmacaco said about the two UP/DOWN modes.
