the 60(3.10 a must) and your s950 is what I read that premo uses. You'll save a bundle if you get the 60 and you will be happy. And, if for some reason you are unhappy, get the 3000 later.

I got the 60, I even loved it before i knew of gthe 3.10 upgrade. Only thing is, the 60 is 12 bit, the 3000 is 16 bit. I myself live for 12 bit, and I want to look into 8 bit

that bit stuff means nothing. the 3000 is 16 bit but still sounds raw and chunky. its all about what your sampling.

Bits mean somehing but I think you're right in that sampling rate has more of an effect. the 60's 40K sampling rate makes it so it can sound nice and clean, but for cymbals, those extra 4 bits must help.

s950 can sound raw as hell because of a function called bandwidth, where you adjust the resolution, the khz part. tht is where the rawness comes from. plus also the converters

Cymbals is just about the only thing I can't sample properly on the 60. I just can't get it sound as I want. No matter how I play around with EQ and different levels. :( I use the S3200XL for those things now.

Import them with MPC editor. Best cymbals I've gotten out of the 60.
