Does anyone here use the MPD 16? I have two questions:

1. I know it works as a midi controller, but is it possible to see what you've recorded on your computer software as audio, or will your recording only show as midi notes?

2. Does it have some of the same functions as the mpc, specifically pad cutoff and 16 level tuning?

I'd appreciate any feedback...

As you stated yourself the mpd 16 is nothing but a midi controller, so it will only send midi notes to a program. As for it's functions : have a look in the manual that can be found here http://www.akaipro.co.jp/jp/datalib/dow ... PD16om.zip

I checked the manual... It didn't say anything about whether the pads cut each other off.
Does anybody know?

Also, can the mpd 16 play audio samples, or does it only trigger midi sounds?
For example: If I have some samples on my computer, can I assign these to the pads of the mpd 16?

Common sense would dictate that would be handled in the program your using.

Okay, well, this is more of a question about midi then I guess...
Can midi be "programmed" to trigger audio samples? If so, how?

If the program that receives your midi notes can play back samples then yes. Midi just sends note information it's the receiver that decides what to do with that note info.

Does anybody else find this question hilarious being that this is a MPC forum?

No sense in ridicule. He has obviously never used an mpc. Also he is from europe, and english is probably not his first language. There was a point in all of our lives, that none of us knew any thing about production.

That being said. Anders needs to do a little more research on home studio productions, before he post such a basic question.

Newbie's have a moral responsibility to do more research before posying really simple questions. All of this information is freely available on the net.

Check out this web site.

Relax "Shogun", I'm not ridiculing him, I'm laughing at the irony in his question.

What's up with all those assumptions? You don't know me...
All I asked for was a little help...

I know what midi is and I know that the mpc incorporates midi and audio.
If you're such experts maybe you can answer my question... I elaborated on it in "Programming a sample sequence with midi?" on the Production Techniques board...
