This is just me. I'm one of those "buy it out right" type of katz. I try not to live much, if any, off of credit. I only finance the necessities. And the wants and must haves, are only paid in cash.

I'm a hustler, meaning I do a lot of odd and mainstream jobs making good money. Just last night in just a couple of hours I changed a faulty water pump on this guys' mazda and came out $150 more than I had earlier in the day.

I'm actually slated to rake in another possible $250 today doing some lawn maintenance & small engine repair work. I own a bunch of power equipment from basic tools to a small tractor.

But today is my last day being on the grind like this because I'll be starting a managers position at a local automotive parts store.

Without a doubt, I'll have that kronos at some point this year.

I feel you. But for me....it's a matter of "Utility" (the pleasure, happiness, or satisfaction obtained from purchasing/consuming a good or service) and "budgeting."

I can take $3000 out of the nest egg, I have finally built up to look quite nicely, which will raise the eyebrows of wifey since we had agreed upon monthly personal spending budgets. (Don't know what to expect in our Economy). 12 months will allow me to get the keyboard today (utility) under my monthly "budget" without interest as the bill will be paid each month in full. *Didn't read the fine print...have to pay $21.95 processing fee which is .7% of the total cost of the board.

* I just DSST/DANTES tested Personal Finance..passed the exam. Just saved $1000 in tuition costs and 2 months of my time :)

monogee wrote:Askia Shaheed, how do you get the 12 mos plan at American Musical? I don't see it for the Kronos. They just give you the 5 easy payment plan for it.

If you look at the 12 month plan it's only for select items from Korg, Roland, Fender, Gibson, Guild, Jackson, EVH.
If you follow the links it shows you the specific items that it applies to and the Kronos is not one.

The available items fall between $750-3000.

Also it's a limited time only offer that it basically trying to coax people into buying some of their slow movers.

The Kronos is a hype product so it wasn't included.

Actually...the Kronos initially was advertised with the new 12 month payment plan. I actually placed the order. American Musical called me the other day to confirm my order. The rep told me that this new payment plan is a trial for AMS. I just looked on the site today and it is no longer being advertised that way (they did say Hurry Limited Time Offer). AMS completed updated their site in this regard over the past 24 hrs.

If you haven't done so already and interested...I would say give them a call...it can't hurt.

Not sure what web page you saw, but the 12 month plan has been the same as it is now based on the links that AMS mailed out to us.
I remember thinking the email was interesting until I saw what items were available.

Too bad they don't have any real manufacturers of interest available.
Even if the Kronous was on there it wouldn't change my interest level.

Calling it a limited time offer was bad enough but with it just offering a few products from Korg, Roland, Fender, Gibson, Guild, Jackson, EVH was pretty humorous.

Nope...not talking about the email AMS sent out. Tuesday (Monday US Time), the AMS website had the 12 month plan for the Kronos. Portions of my emailed receipt: :D

Regardles...it is still advertised to drop here in Japan tomorrow. Wifey is calling my favorite retailers to confirm. If it is in stock, I will probably pick it up anyway....and cancel my AMS order or sell it to someone else. Damn...I want this keyboard so bad.

**Off Topic - Going to see Pirates 4 in 5 hours!

Just got off the phone with wifey. Some dealers in Japan have them in stock. But they all only have 1 or 2 boards. One dealer really likes my wife..and he bumped the #1 guy on his waiting list to give it to her..and we wasn't on the waiting list. And...he dropped the price of the board to 220,000 yen which is under $2800 US! To hell with Pirates 4. I am headed to the bank to get some yen and me and the wifey will get the keyboard this evening...

....love the Pirate movie franchise. Will try to get tickets for a later show!
