No... **** you!

Waves make some good **** but it's massively overpriced. I've been using their plugins for around 10 years, so sometimes it's worth just sticking with what you know.

Pff  You have nothing invested in that fvckin company and jump in to their rescue. Waves gets constantly dissed in the audio community.. with a reason. Those money hungry fags.. and their stupid WUP is like the worst business model ever. Most of their plugin algorithms are 10 years old on average and the newer models are a combination of older code base. Even their coveted SSL algos are like a rehash of the Rennaissance plugs code.
The CLA collection is one of their few plugins with new algos and doesn't sound bad. But you know, 1176's, LA2A's and LA3A's have been modeled by several other devs as well.

There are much better plugin devs in all regards.. sound, innovation, support, cost. The only thing Waves has is sort of a monpoly because they were the first on the set and were very busy ever since milking the cow and getting a kinda "industry standard" badge for being in most major studios. Their unknowing clients sort of expect to see Waves and Pro Tools.

The only thing worse you could do than stealing Waves plugins is buying them

Haha.
I know where I can find 100 thousands of dollars worth of software "free" [warezed]. I could also steal a car, rob a bank or a granny, break in a villa... but I won't. I know I could. TBH I used to hunt for, test and use all new warez releases 10 years ago.
I stopped that habbit, still demo new interesting legit releases and bought only the ones that I really need. Some Softube, McDSP, Massey, iZotope, PSP, Arturia, AAS, NI..

Being warez doesn't make software free. Having all those warezed Waves Mercury, iZotope, Soundtoys, Softube etc. plugins in your folders won't make you any better at crafting your sound.. on the contrary: having too much options to choose from will hinder you.

BTW. fvck Waves.

**** off with your anti pirate bs. Im a hardware guy, I paid for Pro Tools and got ripped off by digidesign (If you **** with pro tools you know what I mean.) I will NEVER pay for software again. **** that. Ill drop paper on something that exists in realtiy and wont become obsolete or stop working because a newer revision or OS comes out.

Oh, And if they didnt want their shit pirated, make the program harder to crack. Wu said it in '93 homie, PROTECT YA NECK.

If I left my car unlocked and the keys in it and it gets stolen, insurance wont cover the theft. Yeah, the person who stole it committed a crime, but Its my fault it got stolen.

Anyone willing to pay $9300 for waves bundles etc. deserves to get ripped off, espescially in a home studio. If youre making serious cake, sure, pay for software, it makes you youre money. If you make music and little to no money, **** the developers. Save your money so you can buy a house to put your studio in, more records to sample from, pay the power bill on the gear you run etc.

**** off with your childish rant. Anyone paying 9300 bucks on Waves Mercury is a fool or has to maintain a professional business with paying clients who expect to see that bundle.. who doesn't know this? Anyone who uses mostly Waves plugins although he has the option to use a select few manufacturers plugins that are better in every aspect, ... maybe doesn't know any better.. even if he doesn't pay for it.

I'm a hardware guy myself and as much as I value good hardware, I value good software and their developers. Although it is just 0's and 1's, that's those devs work you use to create your work. Those virtual 1's and 0's serve to help translate your music to the physical world. There are so many hard-working devs who create spectacular pieces of software at such affordable prices that saying "fvck the developers" as a whole is ridiculous when you're using their work's fruits to create something of your own.
One word: Karma.

Your analogy about your car's keys is laughable. Someone steals your car, something you worked hard for.. and you're gonna say, "well, it was my fault" ?

However, my argument wasn't as much about the wrongs of software piracy as it was about the fact that most warez hunters do just that, they hunt for warez. Collecting software beacause it doesn't cost anything and having too many options that hinder them. Same could be said about the average freeware collector.

Being warez doesn't make software free still holds true. It ain't free, it is fvckin warez.

The car example is exactly what happens with insurance. Yes, the car got stolen, yes it was a crime. INSURANCE WILL SAY ITS MY FAULT, and I wont be covered, even if I had theft coverage on my vehicle. And if I were to leave my keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked, I AM A **** RETARD WHO DESERVES TO HAVE HIS SHIT STOLEN. Legally you are not liable, but insurance will tell you you are liable.

And who said I hunted for that shit, I told a dude what to look for (a free plugin). I mixed the names up and you chimed in with the quickness to correct me, so I cracked a joke.I dont have the waves bundle, I dont have any soft synths or NI stuff or any of that shit. I never cracked the software, I downloaded izotope Alloy and Ozone 2 weeks ago to test it out before I drop cake. Yet you started waving the anti-piracy riaa flag, and Im the one on a childish rant?????

Buddy, your holier than thou atttude is gonna get you served over and over here. You have 86 posts, **** off.

it was a site that at one point was a place you could get tools for hacking, amongst other nefarious things. If I'm not mistaken they got in trouble and were forced to clean up the site... though I could be wrong. And If I'm not mistaken that cleanup was back in like... 2002-2003

Haha, who said my holy attitude was directed totally at you? I corrected you, that's right.. before anyone starts thinking it is freeware while in reality it costs over 200 Euros (Imho pretty expensive for what it is).

The car analogy is off the mark because
1. YOU WOULD be pissed, and not say, "well I deserved it".
2. The software developer uses piracy protection.

I'm not waving the anti-piracy riaa flag man. I hate those politically correct anti-piracy nerds on other forums. It's much more fun stating the truth here where nobody seems to give a **** about that shit and it's harder haha..

Fvck off with the post count shit

Btw. Jonestown is correct, Warez is another term for cracked sw and not just to determine a special site.

ya I got what you meant...

either way, to add on the waves pluggins.... I am not sure, but I suspect they take up way more resource then they should on some pluggins. Like for example the maximizers, they shouldn't be that resource intensive... there are a bunch I suspected of this (the doppler for example) but that seems a bit normal...

I think they're in the middle field of using cpu ressources. But especially Waves' maximizers like the L2, the L3 and the corresponding multi-band versions are so outdated, it's not even funny. Those processors squash the signal heavily, everything just sounds like farted through a cardboard box. Snares start to sound like a cartoon versions of what they were before the processing, almost like hihats lol.
The Sonic Timeworks limiter was already much better 10 years ago. Nowadays you have brickwall limiters like the Sony Oxford, even the T-RackS Brickwall or the new FabFilter Pro-L that kill and eat the L2's and 3's for breakfast.

well I dont use the waves too much because they act up on occasion and I dont need them specifically... okay I like some of the things they have but I use pluggins mostly for sound design and creating trippy sound effects. That is one thing I liked about the doppler.

the maximizers are not too bad on some sounds if you are just turning something up a bit... I never had it sounding like farting through a box... though I rarely use it (I think last time I used L1 ultra though)
