1000+2000 or 2kxl+yamaha rs7000

hey, i own a 2000 classic and can get either a 1000 or a 2000xl at around the same price, the 2kxl comes with a zip drive a cd rom drive and a sd card mod and a akai carry case, it also has 32mb ram installed. the 1000 is standard 1000 bk with the free jjos,
i know people are always asking which is better between the 2kxl and the 1000 but what id like to know is if im better off buying the 1000 and keeping the 2000 for the 'warmer' sound or get the 2kxl and swap the 2000 for a yamaha rs7000 (or even sell it) i have a friend willing to do a straight swap.
i think the 2kxl with the rs7000 would make some bangin tunes but the only thing that worries me is if the screen goes on the 2kxl it might be hard to replace, i love the idea of auto choppin on the 2kxl and being able to use 4 programs instead of one but the 1000 is a newer machine with more features so i find it hard to decide what to do,
any advice would be appreaciated

the 1k got built in effects so consider that (2kxl can be upgraded with the eb16 effects board)

the 2kxl has 8 out(upgrade) as opposed to the 1k which has 4 out(stock)

if i had to choose i would say get the 2kxl and trade ur 2k for the yamaha, going from the 2k to 2kxl would be a very smooth change.

thanks man, my 2000 has 8 outs, dont know about the 2kxl i was offered, i never used the 8 outs on my 2k tho, i just make a beat and put it on cubase and maybe add sounds with a synth later, (dont really know what the 8 outs are for tbh, might be missing something good all this time) yea i was thinking the 2kxl would be easier to use than the 1000, the 1000 seems to have a lot of diehard followers 2 tho,

I would want to own the RS and the XL. Because you have more features with the XL, and you have a whole collection of ROM sounds in the RS. Having two MPCs might be sort of an odd thing if you plan on using them together. If I were to own another MPC, I would get a 500 for portability and my 2000xl for at home, or if I want to bring it anywhere I have the case.

I do think the RS7000 would be a cool thing to get, but maybe also check out the RMX1 too.

ya i had a rm1x be4, it doesnt come close to the rs7k tho, ya ive made the swap so im tryna learn how to use the rs7k now and i should have the 2kxl by monday, thanks for the advice

8 outs is great once you have the tools to use them... you can run each of your sounds through their own output (ie: kick on 1, snare on 2, hihat on 3, etc... ) then you could do stuff like only EQ the bass on the kick if you are running that into a mixer or EQ... another thing is. you could run just the snare output to your fancy reverb unit... or your sample to some other effect... that way you dont need to do it to everything in the whole song.

processing speed on the xl is beyond ancient in comparison to 1k...ask dopedee what he thinks after the switch to 2.5k

after a week with 2500 I asked him what he thinks response was "dude I made more quality music over the weekend with the 2500 than with xl during the whole year"

this is what i've been wanting to do, thats why im trying to upgrade from the 500. im thinking of going with the 1000 instead of the 2000xl, because the parts for the xl are costly if they screw up, plus the 1000 has jjos + 4 outs, which is enough for what i'd need anyways.

My very first sampler was the RS7000. Its a nice machine. I will say this... the RS7000's sequencer is ROCK SOLID and simple. I think it is its strongest feature. I learned alot on it. Then I learned its limitations...... Now i have an MPC1k JJOSxl. lol Its just that sampling with it didnt feel fluid. (to me) I say put that RS on ebay (they still sell for $400-$600) Take that cash and upgrade in other areas of your setup. Plus the sounds in the RS are ...ok.... nothing to go wild over. Contrary to what some have said it doesnt have the Motif sounds in it. It has some sounds that can be used but nothing great. If u want some sounds invest in records, sound modules, keyboards, or even software plugins. lol ok im done. Just giving my thoughts as i have owned the equipment in question. Not a bad piece of equipment at all, but i just think you could upgrade in other areas, cuz with your set up i dont see it bringing much to the table.
