I have a sound problem

How come whenever i play my kick drum on the trim screen, it is louder than playing it on the main screen. Why is that?

it's a mystery, I think that isjust the way it is.

if you have the eb16, try turning the gain up a bit... also, make sure in the mixer it is at max.

Thanks for the reply, im sampling my stuff from a vestax handy trax no mixer, any ways just wanted to know, it does not really matter

go into params menu in the trim screen and check to make sure level is 100.

go to the main screen and press the full level button.

Samples will be the same volume.

i think we've determined that this actually isn't true. it SHOULD work, but it don't. the difference is still small, though.

hey it was a mystery to me too like last year when somebody mentioned it here on the forum... I didn't even notice that though I never really just chopped one thing at a time followed by assigning to programs. I always chopped a stack of stuff and put them on the pads in bulk. by the time I am back in trim the mixer volumes and shit have all been altered.

i always thought it was untrue but somebody at some point changed my mind.

you are free to change it back, let's see those daw recordings...

it was minimal, like 0.6 dB, but yeah...

well I know in the trim screen, it plays the sound stock as is with no effects or any of the params that are applied to pads etc...

I am guessing it would also be at the same volume as max velocity in the trim screen as well. I am sure the reduction is due to something that the pad is running through... maybe something set at 100 rather then 127 or something.... because the difference is small.

so there IS a difference between trim screen and full level at normal operation.

i set all my sounds to 200. the louder (without clipping) it goes in the DAW, the better.

^^^yeah, I know.

But 100 should mean no boost or cut. @ 200 youre amplifying the sample. I was just saying @ 100, the sample should be played back at the same volume in trim screen and program/main screen.

For what you do, you could also set the master output in the mixer screen to +6 or +12 dB, and not have to worry about modifying individual samples.

trim screen sounds HOT to me!

wonder if it does this on any other MPC's.....?
