mpc 2500, protools question????

whats good yall. just need to know if there an easier way to get my songs from a mpc 2500 to protools without using the main out. like i like the way i will arrange my tracks in my mpc, and i hate that i would have to main out each track, then arrange them in protools. i just want to arrange them in the mpc, then load them up in the same order, then all i have to do is add my e.q., dynamics , etc!!!!

good looking shottz. that was pretty easy. but i see im gonna have to get a mixer or a multi input soundcard for multi track recording.

it takes a little bit longer, but here's what you can do.

make the beat in the 2500. put it in song mode. then midi up the 2500 to pro tools, pro tools master, mpc 2500 slave. set-up midi beat clock for the 2500.

now you can solo each track playing the beat back in song mode and track sounds 1 by one. it does take longer this way, so light up a smoke, grab a drink or whatever makes you happy and track it out. doing it this way you will have all your sounds separated in pro tools the full length of the beat, then all you have to do is mixdown.

you can use Midi Time Code or Midi Beat Clock with the MPC and Pro Tools.

some people say midi time code is tighter, but i use midi beat clock and it works fine. midi beat clock is easier to set-up in pro tools too. just go into midi studio set-up in pro tools, set up the mpc 2500 as a device, then all you have to do is enable midi beat clock in pro tools and set the mpc 2500 to slave as midi beat clock and you're good to go.

make sure you set your tempo in pro tools to match the mpc.

pretty easy to set up and get going, plus you can focus on making the beat in the mpc and then once in song mode just sit back and track it out into pro tools. then you can mix in pro tools, plus have all the pro tools editing feats to change the beat up or add sound into it, fly sounds in from the mpc, etc...

the hardest part about doing it this way is the time it takes to track out each sound full song length. 3 min beat, 10 sounds, 30mins of tracking out.

yeah its called converting sequences to a song, you can do this on the 2500...

then you can resample the main out on the mpc itself if u have enough ram then just save it on the mpc hardrive as a wav and/or transfer it to your computer thru USB then dump into protools, theres many ways, this is by far one of the fastest/easiest. I'd saying tracking out your beats into protools using midi and the audio outs and more time consuming and also more hassle with all the audio cables/midi wires. You want easy just do what I said above.
