More business bashing over a company that refuses to respect their consumers.

Most complaints aren't about the Beat Thang at all. The majority of these posts are about peoples' negative experiences dealing with these guys.

Personally, I lost interest in the product as soon as I heard the name. Things only got worse as I read their advertisements.

Ideally, this product should be sold by professionals to be used by professionals. When a salesman interjects rap slang into his pitch it sounds unprofessional, crude, and it's incredibly patronizing. By marketing the product like that they're basically saying "Our market is too ignorant to understand the tech aspects of our product, so we're going to connect with them on a cultural level"

The way these guys operate is downright insulting. How's a grown-ass man supposed to compose professional quality music on a machine that has a 'freak' button on it? I'm not trying to buy a shiny toy from a bunch of business men that try to act like rappers.

While I'm on the subject of rappers: I make rap music, and I love hip-hop to death; but I'm not trying to purchase a machine specifically designed to make rap music. These guys are severely limiting their range of marketability by trying to focus on a specific genre. Everything I've read about the Beat Thang has led me to believe that they designed it with the eyes of a hip-hop producer, not an engineer. Creative input from the intended consumer is important, no doubt; but if you rely too much on that perspective you'll inevitably make a product that is too specialized to be useful to a wide range of musicians.

The Beat Kangz mean well, but I think they went into this half-cocked. Anyway, these are all the thoughts I've had about this thing since I heard about it a year or two ago. Now I'm going to go make beats until these adderalls wear off. Thanks for letting me rant.

Personally, I've kept an eye on this for some time because I was happy to see African Americans attempting to start a company selling music producing tools, especially since it was going to be geared towards Hip Hop. I've never appreciated how they represented themselves. I know that they are attempting to "keep it real", but I think there is definitely a difference between "keeping it real", and buffoonery. If Dr. Dre were going to create and sell drum machines, do you think he would have gone about it the way that these idiots did???? He would have been a straight up business man trying to do business. I never got that from these guys at all.

So, while waiting on information about the hardware, I hear that they are offering a standalone virtual version. The Beat Thang Virtual. Only $150. So, yes, I take the plunge and buy it. What a waste!!!! FWIW, I must admit that there are some great sounds in it, but the software is completely useless. The initial release was a train wreck. You couldn't even erase a drum hit from a pattern on the pc version. They could not have done any beta testing whatsoever. St. Joe started a community for BTV users, and no one could believe that you couldn't erase one midi note from this thing. That type of incompetent business continues to today. I actually downloaded the latest version yesterday to my pc. It opens on my pc, but it will not recognize it's own library. In other words, you can't access the library on the latest version, whether it's in standalone or used as a plug in. No sounds. That's great. I can't see how they will possible ever release the hardware. It's O.S. will be a complete nightmare.

I hate to say it but marketing (as janky as it is) to "kids with dreams" who know nothing about nothing via BestBuy's in store Music Gear shops with Dallas Austin in towe is their best shot. They'll sell all 1000 of those before you know. I personally wouldnt buy it because I like many of us grew up with MPCs and SP1200 and the like (even if you didnt own one you knew these were the joints). But nowadays in the era of Dr Dre Beats headphones, DJ Hero, Ipods etc (which are all sold at BestBuy) - even KRK monitors are sold at BestBuy near my crib... they are barking up the right tree. This is not for us. it's for the "not knowing" cats or the kids who havent been exposed to past generations of beat machines. For their sake though I think they should get some real product demos like any legitimate hardware company has for new product. Put Dallas Austins ass in a well enough lit room with a couple cameras and dig in... How to sequence, how to program or chop or whatever the hell this thang does and make it look like a tool for making beats along with all the fancy elevator shots (LOLZ 'frickin beat making on elevators with fancy leather jackets')

But I do agree that 1500 is steep... still they'll likely sell.

Yeah, his poster name is DopeSound, only two posts but thats him.

Yall should search for Beat Kangz in every forum, there some funny **** in every post

He said something in one of his posts that really makes me believe him.

Certain People thought things like a Step Seq, midi mapping, click about widgits, and Piano rolls weren't necessary right off the bat. Even autochop is present but unavailable just like a few other features. Mostly everything that's been done has been Completely against my advice, but as you know Majority Rules... so I was under tyranny of the majority, No Excuses though.

He posted that back in October, and the BTV still doesn't have a step seq, midi mapping, and a piano roll. For this to be something that they have been working on for years, and considering that the hardware is actually going to be in stores in a month or so, it's still ass backwards as all hell.

No man your right, I CLEARLY don't care about bashing gear. If it sucks it sucks if it's good it's good. I've seen the vids I know the posts I also know I don't really care. It's not the tools being used it's the user. Beatkingz is just a face for a product. You're supposed to talk sh*t about how good your product is that's what every company does. They set out to do exactly what they wanted and your all falling right in line behind them. This is the MPC forum they want to make an MPC killer. Their supposed to ruffle your feathers. Judging by how many pages of hate pop up everytime they're name or device is mentioned I think they are doing a good job at marketing the product. Most products that don't hit market right away get forgotten after being debuted but you guys stayed in touch and keep it alive. If it wasn't for that interest of hate the Beat thang would be unkown and forgotten.

Truthfully With the MPC users, ASR users, and the dedicated Roland SP users out there the Beat thang isn't going to steal anyone away. It cost too much and their going after the wrong target audience. They should be marketing the ultimate "groove" drum machine and going after the SP series. Anyone with an MPC or an ASR isn't going to drop it for a Kang box. I mean did the SB-246 make you throw out your samples? If anything your going to jump over to a Mashine because of it's convenience. The SP users would be their best target. It looks more like something they'd adapt to easily.

All I'm saying is that there's no point in bashing gear that's not a threat to what your already using. If someone picks up a Beatthang and finds it suits their style than that's them. It's just the best tool they found that works for them. The same reason ASR users never went to an MPC. They like what they found already. It comes down to the user and what they do with the tool.

I haven't seen so many MPC users get their panties in a bunch since the announcement of the Mp-7 and we all know that failed because it didn't have a sampler.

Should of though that was a good box. I sold mine and brought another MPC.
