Just started with MPC 4000 having problems with program chan

Hi I've just got the hang of chopping samples to make loops, but now I've got a problem.
This is probably very rookie.. but I've got my samples from a record on one program, but when i want to use another program with drum sounds to put a beat behind it this changes the program i had with my sample sounds to my drum sounds??
It's hard to explain but can anyone help? Basically I want to put a beat behind my samples?

Are you playing the drums on the same track as the other samples?

No, I have one program with a few samples that make a 2 bar repetition, I have another program with drum samples and I want to make a sequence with a 2 bar drum pattern under the sample, but when i go to a different track - same sequence - and use the drum program, the track with the sample on it also changes program.. ? Do people usually have samples and drum sounds on the same program?

Rookie error.

Each program is assigned a specific program number.

Each track can be assigned to a specific part/ program number.
