I don't really grasp what point the Topicstarter is trying to make.

'Do not be negative about MPC unless you read the Manual that came with it' ?
I take for granted that anyone just slightly interested in the stuff he owns, reads the manual from beginning to end at a certain moment in time...personally I read it the first day I get anything new...I try to remember as much as I can, then re-read it the days after untill all is clear.

i dont know how you could blame other people not reading a manual.
i am doing these stuff since 25 years (atari st), + i had a lot of hardware in my studio. in the ncase of this 5000 unit i know after 2 days of working with it (+ reading the manual in the bus from london to glasgow) that its a half finished product.
i encountered a lot of bugs, shortcomings, software gaps... in these few hours:

.) pre listening in the load window + tapping delay freezes
.) maximum duration values set in the step window are leading to 0 settings after reloading the sequence
.) in step edit window the cursor freezes on the "view" field when playing. it does NOT when entering the step edit window in playing mode at the FIRST time. that means it should work to alter the view + pad values (right from "view") while the unit is playing.
.) my + many others displays are fading into purple on the right side.
.) playing a very light sequence of maybe 6 drum sounds + speeding up the tempo to 250-300bpm....try it, everything gets stuck.

+ thats a small excerpt

i mean allone the hickup way of updating the screen in trim mode via sliders...thats how my eeepc reacts with ableton running 10 audio tracks + fx!

it just makes angry to wait for a non existing reaction from the responsible side for this issue they produced....

It's not a good sign when you have to start a thread this with a title like that. Quite sad actually.

If someone chucks their mpc what difference make as long as if you keep yours ?

Wow. its really amazing when you have a positive comment on this site or you have learned something about your MPC thats great. there seems to be one dude, it never fails when i read the threads that acts 9(holy then thow). Dude this is not a site of MPC experts or MPC designers. Let new members share there experiences. MPC 5000 is quite a machine and can be if you let it, overwelm you. Im sure there are things you don't know about the unit so fall back sometimes.

Are you serious. I didn't like college, but I went to school everyday. So what u saying is if something frustrates you give it up right. I wanted to say something stronger, but ill say this: i continue learning the MPC because its a difficult learning curve. If it was easy it wouldn't be a challenge for me. besides for $2000+ it better have something that requires some time to learn. Have a great DAY!

thats what makes me sad: it looks like + has the potential for an approach to a (never possible) all in 1 kit.
as i stated, it has a very nice open workflow for me, more obvious as the mv/rs7000 pieces. i like its sound, the fx (1st time usable on a mpc) + thats the sad point also. i cant trust it now, cant take it for gigs where i have to count on it, nor at home, when a crash could destroy everything..
you cant change it, cant paint it pink: akai dont take the problems mentioned serious enough to react. + thats a result too of all these softened comments with words like "workarrounds" ect.
i can here theire jokes about neurotic, sensitive...musicians.
WE have the power to change something, WE are their feeding custumors!!

Fair enough. I felt strongly about my new understanding of the machine. though, one member made a decision based on this post to buy the 5000. If this post helped anyone to further make an informed choice then for me it was acceptable. Besides i hope thats the basis of this site.

so, a short double post to "clear" these negativ energy a little up:

i played arround with that machine the whole night, couldnt go to sleep, its simply FASCINATING!!
i slowly understand this kind of love relationship these guys here arround have. it has its spirit...simple os, very clear + direct, +: THE PADS!! THATS what its about i guess. the interaction with the machine...man machine...

lets use edit mode (step + grid) while playing (without window scrolling), let me use higher bpm comfortable..

i think thats it!!
