maybe we should come up with a screen design for arpegiator, so they "only" need to program it?

And what about "Gate" and "Latch" Parameters like the MicroKorg has?

so this would be my suggestion:

Image

Press [Window] to enter settings:

Image

This is the default settings for arpeggiator.
Pattern: on/off -> Use Rhythm from a pattern created in "Line pattern edit" mode
Mode: Up/Down/UpDown1 (Repeats Last Note)/UpDown2 (Doesn't Repeat last note)/Random/Assign (Triggers the Notes in the order they were played)/Chord (Triggers all played Notes together)
Octave: 0/1/2/3
Gate: 1-100 -> How long the Note will sound. 1=shortest, 100=hold until next step in arpeggiator (compare to MicroKorg)
Swing: 0-100 (50 = No swing. Like in Timing Correct Window)
Resolution: 1.24 / 1.16 (default) / 1.12 / 1.8 / 1.6 / 1.4 / 1.2 / 1

Image

This is the screen, when Pattern mode is turned on.

(The Arpeggiator will now use the Velocitoy-, Duration- and Timing-Offset-Value from the selected Pattern for the individual Steps)

Gate is now unavailable, because Arpeggiator is using the Duration (D%) settings from the line pattern.
Resolution is now unavailable, because Arpeggiator is using the Resolution setting used in line Pattern edit:

The line pattern mode would be fantastic. I't could be something similar to the way the arp on an SH-101 reacts to HT trigger input from a TR-606.

If you have a 3 note arpeggio it sometimes runs uneven to the bar which gives great acid-style melody/bass-lines.

forgive me if i'm confusing things, but would it be an idea to use an existing track and listen for any note-on(regardless of pitch) and velocity information instead of creating a new edit window?

This would save memory and make it possible to dynamically link an arpeggio's rhythm to an existing track. Or you could simply dedicate a track to the arpeggio. Note repeats then become possible too!

The only addition to your proposed UI could then be a "velocity" toggle in pattern mode(arpegiator settings). Either a fixed value or listen to target track.

That's quality mate.

If JJ could drop something like this it would open up so many possibilities.

this is exactly what we need done! your integration of the pattern mode rocks!
amazing work mate!

lets submit it to JJ.

do we have any others the want to +1 this idea so JJ takes us seriously???

we really do need to get some more people on board......

Man, this would make using external vintage gear AND internal samples soooooo great!
i really hope we can get this happening!!!!!

+1

I always thought it would be cool if line patterns could be used on the "note repeat" button, or in the TC window.

Turn on line pattern in TC window, hit noterepeat and a pad, bingo! instant groove templates.

The arpeggiator additions would be sweet tho and sort of accomplish the same thing.

But the cool part about it being in TC window would be that you could "apply it as a quantize template/pattern"

+1 on this. i like the implementtion. send JJ a basic write-up & a link to this thread.

i personally would change the name of the 'ASSIGN' mode to 'AS PLAYED'. just a little easier to understand.

bonus points for JJ if any of these parameters can be controlled by MIDI CC ! :D

You guys! This would be super nice, i hope that JJ is game!
