Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

I have a 500 and have hooked it up to Reason. I got the Reason tutorial book from the MPC-samples site and followed it to the letter. I have converted all my various sequences into one sequence as a song. This sequence plays fine on the 500 and I've tried to save this sequence as every possible option given within the 500 and yet I still can't create a file which I can play outside of the 500. I've then tried re-recording this sequence as 1 long sample and thus create a WAV file, but I'm told the 500 can't record internal and external sounds at the same time. I tried recording just the sounds from reason and still nothing. I have tried everything I can possiby think of to get this straight but still no cigar. There must be a way for me to convert this beat into WAV or any other recognisable file type (which I can then convert to WAV using Switch) within the MPC, but the Reason tutorial offers no insight, neither does the manual.

Please, please, please help before my fist goes through either A) the wall B) my laptop or C) my girlfriend...

As far as i know u cant use ur sequences outside of the mpc. But u can record internal and external at the same time. U just need a mixer or inputs for the external sounds. My gear is connectedlike this: stereo channel for my internal sounds(also used to sample from youtube or sample in to maschine). Then other stereo channels for my external. If u have a soundcard with many inputs and outputs u can connect the main ins and outs to the computer and the others with external soundmodules. I have m audio delta 1010 and can be used as i said. But i use my mixer instead so i can controll witch channel to record.

yeah my bad, Clint. I have a tendency to waffle. The other 2 dudes got it tho.

All solved now anyway. I wasn't aware hard disk recording would be needed and that the 500 doesn't have have this capability. I'm now aware I can record the MPC sounds into Reason and create a beat that way or record using a 2 track recorder but I'm going to go for recording Reason through the MPC inputs as I want to work mainly with the MPC.

Is it only the 500 which doesn't have hard disk recording?

You can use Reason just like any other sound module in ProTools or whatever!

I know I do.

Hellfire got some tuts to help you out but my way is a tad bit different.
