cant record more than 29 bars

I'm using the Akai OS not the JJOS. I'm trying to record a sequence of a looped sample. I hit record on the sequencer, press and continue to hold the sample pad. I want the sequence to be 120 bars. For some reason, even though I can hear the sample continuing to play, as the sequencer is recording, when I play back the sequence, I can only hear the loop up untill the 29th bar, then I can no longer hear the loop even though the sequence plays to the 120th bar.

Any ideas on this?

After reading your post, out of curiosity I looped a sample for two bars, and in SEQ EDIT mode, I made 59 copies of those two bars to give me a grand total of 120 bars. I let it play for about 50 bars before my ears couldn't take it anymore. But I didn't have any problems. What else might you have going on at the 29th bar that is causing your sample to be muted? Possible culprits, off the top of my head: polyphony limits, mute groups, mono/poly settings...

I'll look into the culprits you mentioned, although one difference, and I don't know why it would matter, is that I sequenced a looped sample without copying bars the way you did. I just held the pad for the entire duration.

True. That was pretty sloppy detective work on my end. I'll do it again using the same method as you, and see what happens...

Thanks......and here's some new info. I think it has to do w/ the amount of bars. I slowed the tempo down from the default 120 BPM to 30 BPM. It was able to record the whole duration that way. This at least clarifies that it's probably a bar amount issue and not a time duration issue. What ever it's doing, it's doing it in it's default settings because all I'm doing is starting w/ a brand new sequence.

It's the duration limit. Check in STEP EDIT and you'll see the number 9999.
The BPM will also have an influence on the final result.

To be more precise, you can record but it won't replay more than the 9999 limit (akai os).
It's approximately 26 bars if you use a 4/4 time sig.
