Pad Fix!! Old Sh*ts

So I'm on the original black 1000, old pads that basically suck. It's been fine for me though, since I usually trigger the pads from my 2000xl when I want to make velocity changes. But the record pad isn't working & I can't even sample into the damn thing. Now I'm no techie - I'm a producer who just knows what he needs to create. So opening up the MP and messing w/ sensors and shit isn't my forte, but I'm tying just to get this one pad to work & with someone's help I'm sure I can do it. Now I've got the cover off and was able to remove the plate w/ the pads on it, & I can see they're individual pads, not grouped like the other MP's. I think I'm gonna try the foil under the pad trick, but how can I get it under the pad? It looks like they're screwed in and secured with metal clamps as well? Help?

just buy the pad upgrade and call it a day.

Anyone with some real advice? I already know my options. Thanks.

Never taken my pads off so no idea if this is possible... but could you straight swap one over you don't use as much with the record one?

Thanks HP - no the problem is getting them off of the metal plate they're attached to. I'd have to do that to switch them, and if I can get them off, I can probably repair em. I'd love to have the upgrade but I don't have $200 to put into a 4 year old machine right now.

I did think my idea sounded too easy!

None of mine are velocity sensitive anymore, and a few hardly work at all! One day I'll get the upgrade kit though

I know how to take advice. Telling me to buy the pad upgrade isn't advice. It's an option that assumes I don't know about a readily available item. I asked how to repair the pad, and specifically how to remove a pad from the metal frame it's attached to. I thought that response was uncalled for actually, because it didn't address anything I asked (similar to your response). But my bad to **** if it came off harshly and he was just trying to help.

I was able to open my pads up individually... I didn't use foil, what I did once the pads were opened up was move the little conductor material that had become unglued to their original spot, and used a piece of electrical tape to hold them in place... It works great for me, and seems like it might help, hope it does.

Enstro! My man, thanks for answering my question. I appreciate it. The conductor material on mine doesn't seem unglued on mine though, but I'll try that anyway & if it doesn't work, I'm going to possibly remove it, use Piezo Element in its place and just re-soder the wires. Typo, whether I ordered a pad from VST or repaired mine, I'd still need to know how to remove it from the plate it was attached to. I don't suppose you'd mind providing a link to that $6 pad that actually has them in stock do you? Regardless, I'd still need to know what I asked since you have to remove them individually. On youtube there has been a video of the individual pad replacement as long as pads were dying.I
did not know you were trying to cut the individual pad itself(GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY CUTTING).In
the future I hope we can both support and talk to each other in the same respect and LANGUAGE.

Put silicone/tape/plastic in between the pad and sensors, that'll do it for a poor mans fix

Thanks. I dropped a $20 for an individual pad I found on VST. Just had an issue removing the metal clamps on the pads at first, that's all. I appreciate all the advice fellas. Still wondering where those $6 joints Typo bragged about are located, though, & I'll respect anyone that doesn't try to call me stupid without knowing me.
