I capture bigger projects with my antique Akai DPS16 hard disk recorder then fly the tracks into ACID as WAV files via CDs, I was told that I could get better quality by going from my digital out (there's only one but it brings a stereo wave) into my PreSonus Firebox into my computer and I did that with a 16bit 44.1kHz audio stream and it worked fine. Today I recorded a client and set my DPS16 at 24bit 96kHz to try and achieve even higher fidelity. Now I can't figure out how to get the files to my computer because I keep getting errors. I can connect no problem with the Firebox and the first thing I do is set the clock on my computer to SPDIF and then open my Firebox program and set all those settings to SPDIF. Then I open ACID and all the lights are blue which means I am talking to the computer from my hard disk recorder but then I get the error messages. One tells me I'm low on memory (which is something that's never happened even working with entire movie projects in Vegas) and other errors that I can't remember right now. I'm wondering if any of you ACID heads out there has ever owned (or still own like me) a stand alone hard disk recorder. If so can you give me some advice on how to get these audio files from my DPS-16 to my computer and into ACID?

If your computer is set up to record at all, you could always just track from the dps to the computer. I have a dps24, I do this all the time. It takes forever and there will inevitably be a change in sound, but it may not be bad or even detectable, really.

You know what I found since I posted this? That I can burn the 24bit 96khz audio file to CD (or maybe in the future CDRW?) using the edit function "Save As Wave File". I can set the "in/out, in/out, just here to check the meter" settings or the "all" and burn it to disc at 5x whilst still retaining the 24/96 (supposedly). Then opening my project in ACID I set that as a 24/96 project and bring the file in. Sounds pretty fricking good if I do say so. Thanks though for responding and hopefully this helps you do the same (if it's something you're interested in doing).
Cheers!
