SCSI to ATAPI, MPC not booting

I just bought a new Zip drive for my 2000xl, cuz my old one keeps malfunctioning. My old Zip was hooked up internally to the SCSI port, but this new one is ATAPI. After hooking everything up, my MPC wont start up at all, but it still works with my old SCSI drive. I feel like there is a simple answer to this, and i feel stupid for asking for help, but please help...

Maybe you have the ribbon cable plugged in backwards?

The ribbon only plugs in one way, but I think that might be the problem. Thanks, I guess im just going to have to buy another cable...
