MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

So I use Reason 5.0 for synths but mainly chop drums/samples for Dr. Rex to my MPD26.
I'm contemplating getting the MPC 5000......... do I need it though? will it make a big difference to my production set up?
Could I integrate it wit Reason? Do I still use Reason as my main sequencer?
I could pull out the Technics from storage and use it to record vinyl etc.
Does anyone else have this dilemma?
Cheers
Dan

I think mpd would be good enough IMO.
Buying MPC5k would give you different workflow. Ofcourse you can use reason as a soundmodule on your MPC. But it means that u record midi on the MPC, not audio. So u will have to record the audio to a DAW. The MPC will be your new sequencer. Remember that the MPC is a standalone sequencer to itself, and the MPD is just a controller that controls the sounds on your computer. Big diffrence. If you really want to change your workflow, then go for it. U can make as good sampled beats on Reason as u can with MPC. So if i was u i would stick to what u have.

You might not like the workflow..... I personally do this for fun so time isn't money to me...... I would try out an MPC and see what you think of it before you go out and spend that kind of money on a sampler. I notice that people who go from computers to mpc have a harder time then the other way around.

Good Luck

I dont know about you, but changing up workflow really helps get me thinking creatively. Sometimes I sequence on my emx, sometimes on my mpc4k, sometimes on fl studio and sometimes I just record and loop live. If you have the money, adding to the set up never hurt anybody, in my opinion. And theyre right, you may end up just loving sequencing on the mpc and still use reason as a sound module. Or you can sequence the mpc through reason. Just play around and fiure out which one you like and if you absolutely hate it, sell it and get something else.
