Well, After 2 years of using fruity loops for beat production, I decided to pick up my first mpc. I talked to my friend about letting me buy his 2500, and he said its mine for $700. I just wanted to know if I needed any specific wires before I run out and waste money. I dont have a whole studio set up, i just want to be able to hook up my mpc to my speakers and hear the output from there.

The friend selling it to you should be able to point you in the right direction. The type of speaker that you have would determine it.

He never really used it himself, it was his uncles. We're both pretty stuck. My speakers aren't that great but they have a subwoofer which makes them very loud with ALOT of bass. I would just plug the cord into my laptop's headphones slot to hear sound, would i have to do the same thing for the mpc?

That would work. You would add an 1/8th inch (female) to RCA mono adapter and add to RCA to 1/4 inch adapters and put it all together.

Go to Radio Shack and buy one of these:

And two of these:

Then plug the cable that you usually plug into you laptop into the 1/8 inch female end of the adapter. Put the 1/4 inch adapters on the RCA ends and plug them into the MPC main outputs. You can also get this as a kit for Ipods.
