I just got my 4kle in the mail does the le have a hard drive ?? and what the akai soft ware that let u sample editing and other shit i got the aksys thingy kinda weak tho also i notice when hitting a pad i hit it twice by accident feels like the padd are to senditive at times what can i do should i update the os let know one more thing how can i save my programs would i have to load em up if i dont have a hard drive thx

The LE has no HD. You gotta break the pads in and they won't do that no more.

they way to go IMO > keep it all USB and you've got a gem in a few years on the resale market. as technology keeps upgrading you won't have anything hardwired into your system > you can hub USB as well so you can have the works > keyboard/HD/ZIP/CDR

good to see someone else with the LE : if you're tech savvy you just saved yourself a boatload of dough.

huh? I'm confused. I think it will hurt the resale of the MPC if you have no internal CD DRIVE or HD. Hardwired? Plugging an internal IDE cable and power cable is not hardwiring something. It's damn easy to install a CD and HD to the MPC. The hardest part is taking all those screws out. Personally, I think the best solution is to have an internal HD. USB HD is slow, plus you have the stupid thing plugged in all the time in the front USB port. I bought the LE and fitted the RAM, CD-RW and HD...it was quite easy. The only thing I found a problem was the RAM. The machine is very picky about the type of RAM you put into it.

yeah > well when you think about selling it think about how the CDR has moved from 16X to 24X to 48X to 80X

think about the HD being 40G/80G/120G/ etc.

i'm talking about the tech buyer who wants a MINT bare bone unit.

don't worry i'm not selling mine > but i look for naked units when buying.

i paid 1800 USD and cat's have hit me up for 2800 USD.

not saying one way or another, but there's gonna be less LE's than there are ripped 4K's with erased and used drives.

it's like getting a new unit for a buyer cause the only thing that's used is the processor > put the mem in and you're all set.

include the USB drives and you've got quite a sale at HD/CDR/ZIP included PLUS 2 bare internal ports.

and you're right not hard to install > just 'why' when you can go USB : i plug and play with my friends all the time and never move my 4K from the studio. the way to go for me is all i'm saying!
