I know the MPC5000 is overhyped right?Wrong!!!!!!

Yeah I can totally understand that. sometimes I feel as though there is too much down here but with my newer setup it's manageable. They are similar, and the main thing is.... on every mpc I am doing similar things... chopping samples, drums, sequencing external stuff... and recording it into the computer or into some hardware. The conclusion is basically the same... the various paths there are just for fun.

In saying all that, it's funny how the slightest thing can have an impact on your workflow.

I bought a dedicated Cubase controller a few months back which is really nice, and I occasionally forget to switch it on before I load up the program... it's like having my right hand chopped off without it now!

It's that kind of targeted purchase that I like these days.

ah neat.. and yes you are right. the thing I am eyeing and want to get but it's a good chunk of change is the axis 64 controller. It's a controller based on the harmonic table... plugs in via midi to external devices too... I know this new angle will add to the process of designing new melodies. I already have a midi controller... but this new key layout (being the slightest change) I know will have a decent impact.

Until I got my hands on the 4k there was one thing here or there that each mpc was missing over another, I honestly believe I will make better or "hotter" beats with the 4k, not because of the bells and whistles, but more because it fits my style of workflow like a glove, I have no problem spending all day on it and never get frustrated. I know just as well as you guys that for the most part the same music can be accomplished with other models, but as Coz said, the slightest thing makes a huge difference, especially for me and my ability to focus.

That's an unusual bit of kit. What's nice about it is that is seems you can't hit a bad note with adjacent keys. I could do with something like that 'cause my one finger keyboard playing technique doesn't cut it at the best of times!

The only thing I'm seriously considering buying now is NI Komplete 7. I've always rated Native Instruments software, and I'm getting a little bit bored of trying to get cracks for everything... then getting another link for sounds... then discovering you've only got the demo! Grrrrr... probably time to make the investment.

I'm trying to eliminate all excuses to not to sit here all day and make beats. It's tough working nights, having a girlfriend and generally being lazy though.
