sample sounds loaded do not sound the same when i hit the pa

Please help me.

When I try to load a sample and assign it to say pad a1... well first... when i audition the sound (sample) hitting play it (say a kick) sounds like it should, but when I assign it pad a1 and then hit pad a1 again it sounds muted or distorted. i have full sound on, its not speakers or anything. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? anyone know? would be a big help. thanks. periodically before this has happened but i always just played around with it and fixed it. this time i'm stumped.

is it possible you have some global settings assigned to that pad that were saved hence the reason it's altering the sound of whatever you assign to it ?

Sounds like you have an effect set to that pad...like bit crusher or maybe even the EQ could be set on that pad and boosted really high. Did you try re-booting the MPC? Reboot and start from scratch... It's been a while since I've used a 2500 but there is a way to set it so when you boot up your Mpc it's completely blank which means no samples, no sequences, no programs....nothing (If you don't know how to do this ask around someone will tell you) Once you have your Mpc completely fresh in the described manner...load a sample to the pad your experiencing the problem on. If it's still sounds wrong then the issues in not within the Mpc's settings.
