i think it looks pretty awesome just considering processing power and totally unique and sleek interface. it certainly doesn't sound bad either.

in a day and age when you can buy a new iPod from a vending machine, $1000+, portable, powerful toys are not that crazy an idea.

The OP-1 is made by ex Elektron employees who worked on Machinedrum. So there's definitely some interesting concepts underneath the surface of the toyish looking facade. If you look on Synthtopia and CDM over the last year and especially lately it has polarized people's opinions as much as anything that's ever been released.

I agree with the balanced view some of you guys have, really cool device but the boutique pricing is more than I'd personally invest I think. The counter argument seems to be people saying consider how much is packed in the tiny device and the hands on fun factor, which is certainly something we all relate to.

I'm curious about the MIDI implementation, it's MIDI over USB so I think a DAW might be necessary to get this thing and your MPC linked.
